Another of the famous attractions in Ubud, Bali, which is only 20 minutes from Ubud, is the Bali Zoo, located in Singapadu, Batuan, Gianyar. Among the exotic animals that make the zoo their habitat are the Bengal tiger, Estuary crocodiles, orangutans, and Komodo dragons. The Bali Zoo houses over 350 species of animals in a natural habitat setting. Camels, kangaroos, deer, Sumatran tigers, and exotic Balinese birds are some of the other species you’ll see at the zoo. The zoo is open each day between 9 am and 6 pm. One of the special programs that are offered is the Night at the Zoo, which begins at 7 pm.
The Bali Bird Park is one of the attractions in Ubud, Bali, that’s great for a family outing or anyone that appreciates lovely birds and attractive gardens. Many of the birds that are bred in the park and make it their home, are native to Indonesia, South America, and Australia. The birds are in natural habitats or in aviaries. The park was created to protect species of birds that are in danger of going extinct, including the Palm Cockatoo, which has a call that sounds almost human. Also, the Bali starling is a beautiful local bird on display that is indigenous to Bali. Each region of the park is a habitat that was recreated to allow the birds to live in an area that they’re accustomed to. One of the favorite activities at the Bali Bird Park is that visitors may be allowed to assist in feeding some of the birds. Some visitors are also delighted to discover there is also a very nice reptile park next door. For one admission price, you can also visit the very impressive reptile park.
If you love the outdoors, one of the attractions in Ubud, Bali is to take advantage of is Bali’s Countryside Cycling. This is the perfect way to see the countryside outside of Ubud. The tour starts in Kintamani, on the edge of a stunning scenic overlook at the edge of an enormous crater caldera and huge lake. The view are really breathtaking and worth the trip. You can take a short rest here, have a cup of coffee and admire the views. From there you’ll cycle downhill to Ubud. You’ll see lush, tropical vegetation and rice fields along the way. On the tour, you may be able to visit a bamboo forest, a temple, and many traditional Balinese villages outside of Ubud. Each and every scene of the mostly downhill roughly two-hour ride is incredible. Biking straight down to Ubud, you will be surprised how fun and easy it is. At the end, grab a late lunch or early dinner in one of the many tasty restaurants in Ubud.
